Mountain biking in Chamonix

Chamonix has become a haven for mountain bikers from all over the world with trails to challenge and excite every standard of mountain biker. Experienced riders will enjoy the riding that is often technical and steep whilst the less ambitious can enjoy a wealth of easier trails throughout the valley.

From the YETI LODGE Chalets & Apartments, you have access to an unbelievable variety of trails right from our doorstep or from several ski-lifts close by.  The valley and the surrounding valleys are laced with well maintained tracks and dedicated downhill VTT runs at the Domaine de Balme, just a few minutes ride from YETI LODGE.  You can take the cable car up the Grands Montets (opposite Yeti Lodge) and let gravity assist you on a blinding descent back to the Chamonix valley. For those with less ambition, the “Petit Balcons” run the length of the Chamonix Valley and make a great day out and les Houches too, offers easier dedicated cable car assisted VTT routes.

Why not use Chamonix’s new transport service for bikes - 3 special vehicles with a dedicated timetable to serve le Tour, le Col des Montets, Vallorcine, les Bossons and les Houches.  There's also the year round 'bike friendly' Mont-Blanc Express train, which links Chamonix with Switzerland.

After a great days riding, return to YETI LODGE and relax in the comfort of your surroundings, take a Jacuzzi or Sauna, or simply sit back and enjoy the stunning views! We like to cater for bikers at Yeti Lodge and our team are all keen bikers themselves, ready to offer help and advice. There are bike wash and lock up facilities for your bikes and if you need a transfer from Geneva we can help with that too!

Important:
As Chamonix is first and foremost a destination for hikers, there are some restrictions on mountain biking, during the busy month of August. Consult the free guide from the Tourist Office for more information.  Click here to access the 2009 Mountain Biking Map.
